In late 2017 production issues set us way behind on our flagship bimetal – The Elite. Our machine shop was behind and estimated a 6 month waiting period for them to get back to my order. I decided to be proactive and try to make the best of the situation. Instead of sending the same design to a new potential shop, I took the route of making improvements to the Elite first.
The biggest difference is featured in the catchzone. I added some cuts that allowed the yoyo to feel wider and more comfortable, while not actually adjusting the width. These adjustments also let us play with the weight distribution a bit. Stability and power were the beneficiaries of this. Oh, we also did this while dropping the weight on the SS version below 61 grams. Yeah, it’s pretty magical.
Let’s talk about the spike. It’s new, it’s fresh, and shaved some weight as well. Still highly functional, but without being overly sharp, cute isn’t it?
Remember how the OG Elite had a bit of a drag as it reached the end of the string? It’s a feeling that’s incredibly hard to describe but the 2018 fixed that. It just feels smoother, better as it flows down your string. Also magical.
Overall I absolutely love this yoyo. Give me another 6 months and I don’t think I’d find any changes to make it play better. It’s exactly what you want and need from a light full size Bimetal yoyo. Of the players that have had the opportunity to try it, I’ve only been given positive feedback. I cannot wait for all of you to give it a spin.

You may or may not have strong opinions about my decision to have these machined in China. Some of you might have mixed thoughts, I know I still do. This decision has been stressing me out for months, I want to do what’s right for all of us. We’re in this together. That’s what makes G2 special. Overall the machining is amazing, seriously top notch. Turn around time is 4-6 times faster. There were too many pros in this situation to ignore them.
